Hello and welcome to Year 1!
Class WK – Miss Kirby and Miss Lodhia
Class BB – Mrs Basigara (Mon-Weds), Mrs Broom (Weds – Fri) and Mrs Thompson
Reading is a crucial part of our Year 1 learning. Please aim to read with your child at least 3 times per week, and record this in the Reading Record. Your child will be given a reading book which is matched to their current phonics ability, and a book for pleasure (to share with a grown up or an older sibling).
Your child’s reading books will be changed weekly, on a Friday. Please make sure that your child’s reading books and reading record is in school on that day.
Each day your child will need to bring a named water bottle and a waterproof coat. Each child also needs a pair of named wellies, which need to be left in school. Please make sure all of your child’s clothes are clearly labelled with their name, especially cardigans and jumpers! This give us the best chance of reuniting clothes with their owner!
Our PE lessons will be on Tuesday. The PE kit is a white t shirt, black jogging bottoms or shorts, black hoodie and trainers. Your child will need to wear their PE kit to school on Tuesdays.
We will continue to use Seesaw as a way of communicating with you. If your issue is urgent or you need an immediate response please call the School Office or send a message via Arbor. Alternatively send us a message on Seesaw for queries that are not urgent. Please be aware that we will not be available on Seesaw during the school day.
At Church Hill Infants we have developed a Reading Spine. This is a common bank of texts shared across the school, which is divided into year groups. The texts are selected for quality of writing, and to represent the experiences of all of the children within our school community.
